Licensing & Usage Rights

Effective for purchases made on or after January 1, 2025

Welcome to McKnight Designs & Co! We're thrilled to be a part of your creative business journey. Please review the following license terms carefully to ensure proper use of our digital products.

Use of any file from McKnight Designs & Co implies agreement with the following terms. 

✅ What's Allowed (No License Needed)

You may use any purchased design without purchasing a license, provided:

• You are the original purchaser of the file AND

  • You are creating less than 250 physical products (e.g., tumblers, shirts, keychains, wraps, decals, etc.) using the purchased design

  • You are producing and selling fewer than 250 total physical units per design.

  • You are not using a third-party vendor or manufacturer to produce those items on your behalf

✅ You may also print and sell up to 250 transfers, gang sheets, or decals using our designs if you are the printer (i.e., the production is done through your business or print shop directly). 

🛍️ License Required If...

A Single Design Commercial License is required if:

• You print and/or sell more than 250 physical items from one design

• You use our design to create 250+ printed products for resale such as:

  • Transfers (DTF, UVDTF, waterslides)

  • Stickers or decals

  • Fabric sheets or gang sheets

• You use a third-party printer or vendor to manufacture physical goods on your behalf (not inhouse printing)

• You are a vendor intending to resell decals, stickers or transfers using our artwork (inhouse - not third party vendor/printer use).

🔐 Third-Party Printing & Vendor Policy

We take third-party use seriously to protect the integrity of our designs.

✅ You MAY:

• Use your own in-house print equipment to create and sell up to 250 transfers or physical items per design without a license.

  • Please note that this does NOT include wholesale/bulk reselling of transfers to other vendors to sell on your behalf

❌ You MAY NOT:

• Send files to a third-party printer or manufacturer to print transfers, stickers, or wraps on your behalf without both:
    • A valid license, and
    • A signed Vendor Waiver

⚠️ The Third-party vendors and printers must ALSO:

• • Purchase their own commercial license

  • Sign our Vendor Waiver Agreement

  • Agree NOT to retain, reuse, or print the file for any other customer or purpose

If a third party vendor/printer wishes to sell transfers or decals made with our design(s) as well, without a waiver - they must:
  1. Purchase the design file directly from McKnight Designs & Co
  2. Purchase their own license
  3. Sign the waiver agreement

Please note - we do not permit wholesale/bulk reselling of transfers of our designs without pre-approval and potential additional licensing fees.  This needs to be discussed with us in advance.

This applies to all manufacturers and print vendors, including U.S.-based and international companies, as well as overseas manufacturers.

❌ Prohibited Uses

Violating these terms may result in revoked licenses, DMCA takedowns, or legal enforcement.

🔒 Redistribution & File Sharing

• You may not resell, share, trade, or distribute our digital files in any format

• Uploading our designs to print-on-demand platforms (e.g., Redbubble, Amazon Merch, Teespring) is strictly prohibited

✏️ Modifications

• ✅ You may resize files to suit your project

• ✅ You may recolor SVGs to match your vinyl or cut materials

• ❌ You may not redraw, layer, slice, or convert our designs into new digital products (if it is a unique request, please contact us to discuss in detail - further licensing or costs may be required or the request may also be denied).

• ❌ Modified or copied versions may not be shared or sold as digital files under any circumstances

🖌️ Procreate Tools

• Procreate brushes and brush sets may never be shared or resold

• Procreate stamps may not be exported and sold as clipart or design elements without added original artwork - YOU MUST add your own artistic flair/other art to the finished/colored stamp design in order to be used for clipart.

• Minimal changes (like flattening or coloring stamps alone) do not meet our terms of service and licensing requirements

⚖️ Legal Enforcement & Consequences

McKnight Designs & Co reserves the right to take immediate legal action if our licensing terms are violated. This includes—but is not limited to:

• DMCA takedown requests across websites, marketplaces, print vendors, or platforms where unauthorized files or products are found

• Termination of licensing rights without refund

• Invoice and retroactive licensing fees for unauthorized commercial use

• Reporting to selling platforms (e.g., Etsy, Shopify, Amazon, Facebook, Printify, etc.) for copyright infringement

• Legal action or formal cease-and-desist letters issued for continued or large-scale misuse

Licenses are non-transferable. You may not share, pass on, or outsource usage of our designs without explicit written permission and proper licensing in place.

We actively monitor for misuse, including improper resale, third-party vendor printing, and digital redistribution.
